Mar 30, 2021 | District, Battle Creek Central High School
As a part of our commitment to ensuring every student graduates career, college and community ready, we recently celebrated the opening of a new, state-of-the-art health care simulation lab housed within Battle Creek Central High School. Here, students in the BCCHS Career Academies Health Care and Nursing pathways can experience hands-on learning with access to the equipment and experience that is typically found in real-life nursing and health care facilities only, including:
- A replica of an ambulance
- Stretchers, tables, and lifts
- “Practice patients” in the form of fully-articulated, high-fidelity medical dummies
Opened in fall 2020, the lab is a state-approved training site for Certified Nursing Assistant and Emergency Medical Technician certification programs, right here at Battle Creek Central High School! Students have access to the equipment and experience that is typically found in real-life nursing and Health Care facilities only, like a replica of an ambulance, stretchers, tables, lifts, and “practice patients” in the form of fully-articulated, high-fidelity medical dummies.
BCCHS Executive Principal Noah Hollander shared, "We are thrilled to be able to offer this state-of-the-art facility right here in Battle Creek Central High School. This lab is the only one of its kind in our region, giving our scholars yet another unique Bearcat Advantage that will support them on their pathways to success after high school."

The Health Care Simulation Lab was made possible through the partnership of numerous community organizations in the BCPathways4Success consortium in applying for, and securing the MDE Marshall Plan for Talent Grant. Many thanks to all who were involved in helping bringing this project to life in support of our students and our future workforce.
BCCHS Career Academies: Where every student graduates career, college, and community ready!

All ninth graders participate in Freshman Academy, a special learning environment for a smooth high school transition. At the end of ninth grade, all students declare a career-focused pathway, and in 10th grade, begin interest-based and experiential learning for their chosen pathway.
