Greetings Bearcat Families,
Welcome to our Battle Creek Central Family Newsletter! We will use this tool to share news, announcements, and upcoming events to support our commitment to clear, consistent communication.
This week, we have a few key announcements. We've shared these announcements through the all-call and ask for your partnership in communicating with students at home.
- 🌞 There is no school for students on Friday, February 7 as staff engages in professional learning.
- 💵 There is one more parent session for FAFSA. It is February 11 from 5:30-7:00. A meal and door prizes will be provided.
- ⚖️ Count Day is February 12. Thanks for being in school that day!
- ✈️ The onsite meeting for the international trip has been canceled. See Ms. Shiller if you have questions.
- 🏫 BCC is planning a trip to Washington, DC to tour four HBCU's (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). The trip will take place from November 12-16, 2025. There is an informational meeting on Monday, February 3. This meeting will be held from 6-7 in the McQuiston Center. Deposit and permission slip is due March 3 to Ms. Briggs in Room 2131.
- 🥎 Starting January 28, softball practice will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 at the Fieldhouse.
- 🥎On March 3, you can meet the softball coach at BCC in the Health classroom on the second floor from 3-4.
- 🩸 BCC will host a Blood Drive on Friday, February 21.
- 🎈 Our next student/caregiver/teacher conferences are on Tuesday, February 25 from 3-7, and Wednesday, February 26 from 2-4. Please join us for these important conversations.
- ❄️There is no school on Friday, February 28 for Mid-Winter Break.
- ⏲ Reminder that students are given credit for advisory which begins at 7:30 am
- 🩺 Grace Health completes sports physicals for winter sports if you are interested.
- 🧮 BCC now has a math lab. Students can receive support in math after school on Wednesdays until 3:00 pm in Room 2132.
- Athletic schedule for this week:
- 🏀 Women's basketball has games on February 4 and 7.
- 🏀Men's basketball has games on February 4 and 6.
- 🏊♂️Men's swim has meets on February 4 and 6
- 🤼 Wrestling Team has Districts February 6.
- 📲 Please make sure the Welcome Center has your current email address, mailing address, and phone numbers. We regularly send out information about grades, absences, and upcoming events, and we want to ensure you have accurate information every week.
- 🔮 We hope all students will consider joining an after-school club or a sport. Some of our after-school clubs are: Tabletop Gaming, Voices of Diversity, Magic Club, Robotics, National Honor Society, Craft Club, Science Olympiad, Red Cross Club, Gender Sexuality Alliance, NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Team, and Hispanic Heritage Alliance.
- ✋Attendance: Good school attendance is the first determinant of high school graduation. Students who miss 10% or more of school throughout the year miss out on significant class time and can quickly fall off track for graduation. Please help us support your children's success by ensuring they are in school on time daily.
