Welcome to our Battle Creek Central Family Newsletter! We will use this tool to share news, announcements, and upcoming events to support our commitment to clear, consistent communication.
This week, we have a few key announcements. We've shared these announcements through the all-call and ask for your partnership in communicating with students at home.
- 💗Celebrate Bearcat Love Week with us from February 17-21! Monday - Love your Neighbor. Donate to a charity. Tuesday - Love to Be Cozy. Wear pajamas. Wednesday - Love an HBCU Day. Learn about HBCU's. Thursday - Love One Another Day. Dress like a teacher. Friday - Love to Be a Bearcat. Wear spirit gear. The week will finish with a Pep Rally before the Lakeview game in the Commons from 4:30-6:00.
- 🩸 BCC will host a Blood Drive on Friday, February 21.
- 💻 If you need help with FAFSA, a college application, or a scholarship application, please attend the Scholarship Application Work Zone. The Zone will be available during conferences on Tuesday, February 25 from 3-7 and Wednesday, February 26 from 2-4.
- 🎈 Our next student/caregiver/teacher conferences are on Tuesday, February 25 from 3-7, and Wednesday, February 26 from 2-4. Please join us for these important conversations.
- ❄️There is no school on Friday, February 28 for Mid-Winter Break.
- 🥎 Softball practice is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5 at the Fieldhouse.
- ⚽️Soccer conditioning is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 at the Fieldhouse and on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30 in the high school gym.
- 💻 March 1 is the hard deadline for FAFSA, Bearcat Advantage Scholarship Application, and BC Community Foundation Scholarships.
- 🏫 BCC is planning a trip to Washington, DC to tour four HBCU's (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). The trip will take place from November 12-16, 2025. Deposit and permission slip are due March 3 to Ms. Briggs in Room 2131.
- 🥎On March 3, you can meet the softball coach at BCC in the Health classroom on the second floor from 3-4.
- 🌸 March 14 is a half day for students.
- ⏲ Reminder that students are given credit for advisory which begins at 7:30 am
- 🩺 Grace Health completes sports physicals for winter sports if you are interested.
- 🧮 BCC now has a math lab. Students can receive support in math after school on Wednesdays until 3:00 pm in Room 2132.
- Athletic schedule for this week:
- 🏀 Women's basketball has games on February 18 and 21.
- 🏀Men's basketball has games on February 18 and 21.
- 🏊♂️Men's swim has meets on February 18 and 20.
- ⚾️ Spring sports are: women's soccer, women's softball, men's baseball, women's tennis, and coed track.
- 📲 Please make sure the Welcome Center has your current email address, mailing address, and phone numbers. We regularly send out information about grades, absences, and upcoming events, and we want to ensure you have accurate information every week.
- 🔮 We hope all students will consider joining an after-school club or a sport. Some of our after-school clubs are: Tabletop Gaming, Voices of Diversity, Magic Club, Robotics, National Honor Society, Craft Club, Science Olympiad, Red Cross Club, Gender Sexuality Alliance, NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl Team, and Hispanic Heritage Alliance.
- ✋Attendance: Good school attendance is the first determinant of high school graduation. Students who miss 10% or more of school throughout the year miss out on significant class time and can quickly fall off track for graduation. Please help us support your children's success by ensuring they are in school on time daily.
