Apr 21, 2023 | After School
Thank You to Our After School Staff!
April 24 - 28 is After School Professionals Week when we recognize, appreciate, and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours!
We'd like to offer a special shoutout to the 21st Century extended learning program teams at Ann J. Kellogg, Battle Creek Central, Dudley, LaMora Park, Post-Franklin, Northwestern Middle School, Springfield Middle School, Valley View, and Verona, plus our partners from the Battle Creek Family YMCA who provide after-school programming for Fremont. The opportunities you provide for our students play a huge role in setting them up for future success by providing a fun, safe environment where they can continue their learning after the school day has ended.
A word from Tierra Stevens, BCPS Extended Learning Program Assistant Director:
Many thanks to our partners from Dean Transportation, Food Services, KYD Network, plus dozens of other community supporters. We also couldn't do it without the outstanding custodial staff, school day staff, building principals, and enrichment providers for their many efforts in all of the moving parts within our extended learning program at BCPS. Thank you to all of our Extended Learning Coordinators and Youth Development Workers for all you do on your sites. We appreciate your commitment in providing a supportive environment for all through positive relationships, academic practice, and engaging experiences.

Thank you to the BEST! Lika works hard every day to make sure students at LaMora Park are learning and having fun! She is an amazing coordinator and such an asset to LaMora Park Elementary School!
ANGIE MORRIS, LAMORA PARK ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL
“Research shows that afterschool professionals are the key to the program quality that mitigates risk factors and positively impacts youth outcomes. We at Kingman Museum are privileged to work alongside these professionals throughout the year as we facilitate our natural history programs and activities. Thank you to the team at 21st Century at Battle Creek Public Schools who make a profound difference in the lives of our young scholars and allow us the opportunity to make further impacts with our education collection.”
LEILA ARBORETUM
Thank YOU! 21st Century programming is truly a blessing for us here at Kingman. Anything we can do to help support!
EMILY POWELL, Kingman Museum
I am so thankful to be an enrichment provider with the 21st Century Afterschool Program with Battle Creek Public Schools. Students are eager to learn new things and are actively involved in the learning process. This is a direct result of the positive learning environments that the BCPS 21st Century Program Staff have created in partnership with all stakeholders involved. Happy Afterschool Professionals Week!

I love working with each site throughout the school year, watching the students grow in their relationships and confidence. This growth is, no doubt, directly related to the leadership you have at each site. Thank you for all that you and your staff do to create a positive environment for our community!

"One of the many characteristics that our After School Professionals Embed are their creative ways to help our school age and youth understand things in various ways because they see first hand that learning is not a one size fits all."
