We are thrilled to announce a momentous achievement for Fremont International Academy. After reopening the school as an International Baccalaureate (IB) candidate school in 2019, we are proud to announce that Fremont International Academy has been officially designated as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) school. The announcement marks an exciting accomplishment for our teachers and support staff who have been working hard for the past four years to implement the IB framework, and represents a significant milestone for our students, families, and community as well.
What is IB?
The IB Primary Years Programme is a globally recognized framework that encourages inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and holistic development in young learners. At Fremont International Academy, we believe in fostering a deep understanding of concepts, building strong foundational skills, and cultivating a love for lifelong learning. The IB approach goes beyond traditional education models, encouraging students to become active participants in their own learning journey.
In an IB classroom, students engage in authentic, real-world experiences that promote a transdisciplinary approach to education. Rather than studying subjects in isolation, students explore topics that connect multiple disciplines, encouraging a broader understanding of the world around them. The IB curriculum incorporates a rich variety of subjects, including language and literature, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, physical education, and a second language, fostering well-rounded individuals ready to face the challenges of the future.
Moreover, IB learning places great emphasis on developing key attributes and skills in students. These include critical and creative thinking, effective communication, intercultural understanding, and personal and social responsibility. By nurturing these qualities, Fremont International Academy prepares students to become active, compassionate global citizens who contribute positively to their communities and have a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives.
Nearly 85% of all graduating Fremont 5th graders earned their high school Spanish I credit!
Fremont's Spanish Curriculum
As a part of the International Baccalaureate framework, all Fremont students participate in Spanish classes beginning in kindergarten. Upon completion of their Fremont school careers, all students have the opportunity to take a Spanish test which, if passed, provides a them with a high school Spanish I credit.
Following the graduation of Fremont International Academy's first 5th-grade class, we are excited to report that nearly 85% of all graduating Fremont 5th graders passed their tests and will be entering high school in three years with their Spanish I credit already earned!
