Greetings Battle Creek Community,
It is the time of year when we begin to reflect upon the last 12 months with a heart of gratitude and appreciation for all those who continue to help Battle Creek Public Schools move from good to great. In BCPS, our community partners are important to us because each of them has a profound impact on the success of the students and families we serve.
We are thankful to the individuals who participate in our monthly Bearcat Health meetings, working together to provide wraparound supports for students and families; to the more than 65 businesses who have decided to partner with us to create career experiences for BCPS students at the Battle Creek Central High School Career Academies; to our friends from Communities in Schools, who have been working hard to find new ways to add school-wide and individualized student support; to the United Way, who has been instrumental in providing literacy support for our students; and to our local foundations who have graciously provided funding opportunities for our students, staff, schools and community to help ensure a quality education for every child.
Over the holiday break, BCPS along with our partners from Communities in Schools and other organizations worked together to distribute more than 150 meals to families in need.
Add to this list the growing number of businesses and individuals in the community who are finding their own unique ways to support the students of BCPS, and it is clear that we truly have one of the most caring communities imaginable behind our Bearcats. We call it the Bearcat Advantage, and it means that in Battle Creek Public Schools, we offer a community school approach to meet the needs of every student, from health checks to summer camps.
I am proud of all that we’ve accomplished and all that is to come as we and our caring community partners remain committed to the success of every Bearcat. It’s why I continue to Believe in the Change!
