In 2017, Battle Creek Public Schools began a historic transformation effort, in partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), to help prepare every Bearcat for college, career and community through a five-year, equity-informed approach to creating more opportunities and increasing district excellence. Four years later, we have a powerful story to tell the world!
Since we began this transformation process, we have accomplished so much. BCPS families now have a wealth of options for their students, depending on their interests and talents. We have implemented new opportunities for enrichment and individualized education for every student, increased teacher professional development opportunities, invested in early education, launched Career Academies at BCCHS, reopened W.K. Prep as the only high school of its kind in the area, opened Fremont International Academy as our area’s only International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme candidate school and opened BC STEM as another great magnet option for our middle school families. We’ve learned and accomplished so much over the past four years and now, we’re eager to share our successes and all we’ve learned.
Today, WKKF is launching a new, interactive website to share our success stories and the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Check it out for yourself here..
Thanks for Believing in the Change and for being part of our transformation!
