BC STEM Welcomes Principal TaShaune Harden and New Teachers

At BC STEM these past few months, we have witnessed our school spirit and Bearcat pride continuing to grow stronger. We are truly proud to see the ways that families and students supported one another and engaged with their teachers and peers to keep learning and connected during these uncertain times. What the BC STEM community has been able to build together in this past year is truly amazing. As we look forward to the 2020-21 school year, we are very excited to introduce Tashaune Harden as the new lead principal at Battle Creek STEM Innovation Center!

Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2020 SEED Awards back in January. We appreciate your patience and understanding for the delay in announcing our winners. This year’s SEED Award recipients will be announced this year in August and will be honored at a special awards ceremony in September.

We know that the decision of where to send your child to school is an important one and we are honored to have the opportunity to help your child succeed. We are looking forward to a strong start in the fall, with more opportunities than ever at BCPS! To help us plan ahead, we ask that you let us know of your plans for next school year by July 1 by completing and returning the postcard that was mailed home this week, or by responding online.

Battle Creek Public Schools Statement on Racial Equity

As a school district, we can’t end racism and injustice, but what we can do is learn about patterns and root causes of injustice and commit to do things differently. The transformation of BCPS is at its heart, an effort to increase equity. At Battle Creek Public Schools, our equity imperative is rooted in our belief that all students, regardless of race, income, zip code, identities or abilities, should have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Planning Ahead for District Re-Opening this Fall

While we aren’t sure yet what arrangements will be required when school opens back up in the fall, we are planning for a variety of scenarios. Our plans include opportunities for in-person learning, virtual education or a hybrid approach based upon the most current health department recommendations.
