Battle Creek STEM Innovation Center is an academically rigorous STEM-focused magnet middle school that fosters hands-on project-based learning for students to develop engineering mindsets, design thinking, and research skills. Here, students develop a sharp analytical mindset, creative problem-solving abilities, and practical know-how that they apply to all subjects, ensuring students graduate with the confidence to continue pursuing an advanced STEM education or thrive in any other field.

How to Enroll
Enrollment in BCPS Middle Schools for the 2023–2024 school year is now open!
- Interested in Northwestern or Springfield? Look up your student’s assigned school (based on your home address) here. If your assigned school matches your family’s preferred school, no more action is required. If your assigned school is different from your preferred school, fill out an in-district transfer form here.
- Please note that Fremont students will be automatically assigned to Springfield to ensure students can continue learning about and engaging with our community in Battle Creek and the world as a whole.
- Interested in BC STEM? Families who are interested in BC STEM must complete an online application here and attend the BC STEM Student Science Night on March 14 or 16. See full timeline here:
- Application Window Opens: February 20
- Student Science Night (Required): April 18 & 19, BC STEM (100 W. Van Buren St. next to the McQuiston Center), 5–6 pm
- Families informed on acceptance status: April 14
- BC STEM Appeals Window/Late Applications: April 17–April 28
